Washington Redskins – Teamreport

“There’s no tender spots anymore. Every day we’re making progress. I’m very hopeful for this week. (But) it’s hard to tell unless you kick ball. The swing is fine, (but) when you make contact with it, it hurts.” BY THE NUMBERS: 4 — Career-high sacks by Redskins OLB Brian Orakpo as a rookie in a game at Oakland in 2009. QUOTE TO NOTE: “0-3 is not where I wanted us to be. The good thing about it with our division is that we’re (only) two games out (with five NFC East games remaining). In most situations, you’d probably have somebody 3-0 in your division and another team 2-1.” — ILB London Fletcher, one of Washington’s co-captains.

Redskins defenders see Raiders as a challenge for run defense

If he doesnt play anything on defense, he better play well on special teams and if you dont play well on special teams and youre not a starter on defense, then you wont be dressing. That doesnt sound like a player whose coach thought he handled the reduced playing time well. But Rambo said all the right things when he spoke with reporters on Wednesday. I feel caught up. Its just still growing on me still, Rambo said of adjusting to life in the NFL. Im just trying to improve every game. The speed of the game like everybody said, the SEC is the most NFL-like conference.

Redskins rookie Bacarri Rambo on reduced playing time

The Raiders will get to host the winless Redskins for their 12th match since 1970. Oakland leads the all-time record against the Redskins at 7-4. At home, the Raiders lead as well with a 3-2 record. The biggest game for these two was in the 1984 Super Bowl XVIII, when the Raiders, playing in Los Angeles, took a third title by defeating Washington 38-9. The 12th edition of the Redskins and the Raiders will be exciting on Sundaythe Redskins are looking to win their first game this season while the Raiders are looking to stay with a 500 record by defeating Washington. The Redskins Record Washington is on a sinking ship as the team has not won a game so for this season. The Redskins have lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers (away game), and the Detroit Lions. In all three games, the Redskins put up a fight, but it was not enough to get a victory. Robert Griffin III has been criticized for his inability to lead the Redskins, but he is still putting up numbers.

Redskins injury report: Jordan Reed sits

— Washington Redskins rookie tight end Jordan Reed did not practice Wednesday because of his thigh contusion, but coach Mike Shanahan said Reed has improved a lot in the last day and remains hopeful about his availability for Sundays game at the Oakland Raiders . Reed The problem at tight end is that veteran Fred Davis was limited in practice because of a sprained right ankle. He did not play against Detroit after hurting the ankle Friday. Reed replaced Davis with the starters in the second half of the Week 2 loss at Green Bay. He provides them with a young, athletic target who continues to improve. The Redskins want Davis, in the final year of his contract, to be more detail-oriented. If neither one can play against Oakland, then Logan Paulsen and Niles Paul would take their places. Paulsen is the Redskins’ top blocking tight end; Paul is No.

Fixing Washington Redskins’ Defensive Woes Starts on Offense

Meanwhile, running back Darren McFadden has rushed for 186 yards (16th) and two touchdowns on 48 carries. Although uncertainty remains over Pryors availability for Sunday , the Redskins are preparing as if the concussed quarterback will play. Their plan for stopping the two-headed rushing attack will likely call for the Redskins to feature more of their base defensive front, as was the case against Detroit. The Redskins last Sunday used that package, which featured three defensive linemen and four linebackers throughout the game versus run or pass plays. This marked a change from the first two weeks of the season, which saw Washington play in its nickel package (two linemen and four linebackers) for much of those games. Playing in the base package gives the Redskins their best chance to stop the run and force opponents to become one-dimensional, Cofield says. That will force Oakland, which ranks 28thin the league when it comes to passing offense , into its greatest weakness, and that gives the Redskins optimism. There hasnt been many instances since Ive been here where teams have run the ball down our throats when were in our base defense, Cofield says. We have a lot of confidence in that.

Series History: Redskins-Raiders

Reece would leave the slot and swing past the blocking to the end zone. McFadden took the toss and the Broncos swept that way, playing the run. With his blockers in front of him, McFadden had the time and space to stop and set himself for a surprise throw. With blockers in front giving him time, McFadden surprised the Broncos with a pass. He was able to loft a nice pass to Reece who had escaped through the crowd. The play resulted in a 17-yard touchdown. McFadden fooled the Denver defense and fired an accurate pass into the end zone. McFadden threw successfully in college and in their eagerness to improve against the run, the Redskins cannot ignore his threat as a passer.

TE Fred Davis is listed with a ankle injury and was limited in practice today. Still, Davis said today he looks to play. More problematic coils be rookie Jordan Reed. Reed did not practice today and left the game against Detroit when he sustained a bruised though in the third quarter. Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said today that Reed has shown substantial improvement. Kicker Kai Forbath is listed as well. Forbath has missed the last two games, with John Potter handling kicking duties during that time. Forbath did not practice today, but hopes to kick later this week. Something tells me to not count on Forbath this week. Potter missed a field goal in his first game against Green Bay, but connect in both attempt this past week WR Leonard Hankerson is listed with an injured hamstring.

Redskins Injury Report (Week 4)

The secondary has been picked apart in all three games and the tackling across the board has been very poor. It’s the fundamental’s that they need to get back to if they want to get better. It’s a two way street, a help-me-help-you situation, in Washington. If the offense can begin to put together longer drives, it will (well, should) help the defense improve. They’ll have the opportunity to make adjustments, catch their breath and come out better prepared for the next drive.

Redskins Mailbag: Brian Orakpo’s Value, London Fletcher’s Replacement & Roy Helu’s Role

If the Redskins agree, then they would be looking at a huge contract that matches the other elite rushers in the NFL. Here’s the numbers of recent extensions for some elite guys. DeMarcus Ware : Six years, $78 million, $40 million guaranteed in 2009. Terrell Suggs: Six years, $63 million, $38 million guaranteed in 2009. Tamba Hali : Five years, $60 million, $35 million guaranteed in 2011. LaMarr Woodley: Six years, $61.5 Million in 2011. Clay Matthews : Five years, $66 million in 2013. If then, Orakpo is seen by Washington as an elite rusher, he’ll be looking at a 5-6 year extension for around $63 million, with around $35 million of that guaranteed. That’s a pretty high price to pay, in my opinion, for a guy that has missed significant time with back to back torn pectoral muscle injuries.

He likes practice. And at this stage in his career, how much does he really need? He rested much of December and was named NFC defensive player of the month . He led the team in tackles. Who among the Redskins is going to grumble that Fletcher looked on from the sideline for some workouts?

“I’m not going to tell everything about what I have going on. It’s just the way I am. If you play football, you have things that bother you all the time. If I told you everything that’s bothering me, you would be writing a story every day about what’s going on. I don’t believe in giving an opponent any prior knowledge of what is affecting me. I don’t have to tell, so I didn’t tell.” There are no injury reports in the preseason, so teams don’t have to disclose injuries.

London Fletcher Insurance Policy: Veteran LB Nick Barnett has 1st practice with Redskins

Fletcher has never missed a game in 15 seasons in the league. “Even though I’ve started every game that I’ve played, I’ve always thought you could come off the bench and be just as big of an impact as well,” Barnett said. Barnett is basically replacing 2012 fourth-round draft pick Keenan Robinson, at least for now. Robinson is being groomed as Fletcher’s eventual successor, but he tore his left pectoral muscle on the opening day of training camp, his second shoulder injury in less than a year. Barnett stayed on the field after the morning walkthrough for more conditioning drills to get him back into shape.

Redskins vs. Lions: Robert Griffin III’s fumble, overturned touchdown pass key in 27-20 loss

As usual, Sunday’s game opened with the Lions winning the toss and electing to receive. Also as usual, the Lions failed to do anything on their opening drive. They didn’t go three-and-out despite Matthew Stafford taking a sack on the first play of the game, but they did have to punt after only moving the chains once. The Redskins followed up with a similar sequence, as they had to punt as well after picking up a couple first downs. The Lions’ shaky start on offense continued on the first and only play of their next drive.

LOVERRO: At 0-3, Redskins not passing the smell test

Allen may have been referencing the Securities and Exchange Commission, since the New York Giants, like the Redskins, are 0-3 after a 38-0 beating by the Carolina Panthers. The Chip Kelly 22nd century Philadelphia Eagles are 1-2, and sitting on top of the division are the Dallas Cowboys, with a 2-1 record after a 31-7 victory over the St. Louis Rams Sunday. It would seem 0-3 in the NFC East is not the worst place to be, though Shanahan said Sunday that anytime you start 0-3, thats as tough as it gets. No it isnt. 0-4 going into a bye week is tougher. Much tougher. Season-ending tougher. Smelly sewage tougher.

Lions-Redskins Preview

… The tackles we missed (in the last game) were just routine tackles that we’ve got to make to be in this league.” The Redskins are expecting Sunday’s opponent, the Detroit Lions, to copy the things that have worked so well for other teams. Keep up the tempo. Spread the field. Take short drops and throw quick-hitters. Use the pass to set up the run.

But Griffin and an offensive unit that has yet to rekindle last seasons explosiveness demonstrated again that they have yet to fully work out the kinks that have held it in check thus far. Initially, it appeared that Griffin would find a way to shake off his two turnovers and provide the heroics. Trailing 20-17 with 9:15 left on the clock, Griffin unleashed a high-arcing pass 57 yards through the air and into the arms of backup wide receiver Aldrick Robinson in the end zone. Robinson fell to the ground as he hauled in the pass, and although a touchdown initially was called, the replay showed the ball touched the ground and rolled around before bouncing back into Robinsons grasp, referee Ed Hochuli explained. The Redskins came back onto the field, and Griffin fumbled on second down but recovered the ball on the aborted play. Two plays later, the team had to punt. The Lions denied by Washingtons defense on two previous trips into the red zone provided the dagger after that, however.

Redskins add TE Davis to injury report for Sunday

(AP) – The Washington Redskins have added tight end Fred Davis to their injury report for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. The Redskins announced Saturday that Davis is questionable with an ankle injury. Davis played sparingly in the second half of last week’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, although coach Mike Shanahan says it was because of performance and not injury. Davis was not listed on the injury report Wednesday through Friday. Davis has three catches for 25 yards in the Redskins’ first two games. More NFL

The running game was working, the passing game had time, several receivers were involved, blood-pressure levels were dropping. Then Griffin rolled out, was under duress, had an opportunity to simply throw the ball harmlessly out of bounds, and instead tossed his fourth interception of the season. He had five during his entire rookie campaign. Also, Willie Young, the player who was chasing RGIII down, is a 251-pound defensive end. Worst Decision Part II: Joshua Morgan, getting rare duty fielding kickoffs, caught a ball like 17 rows deep in the stands, behind an exit row, and then and decided to bring it out.

Redskins defense playing ‘some ugly football’

“Anytime you start out a little bit slow and we’re down as many points as we’ve been down and we get to a two-minute attack a little bit earlier than we would like to, you probably put people in the toughest situation you can.” The Redskins had a 3-6 start last season before rallying for seven straight wins to claim the NFC East title, though now they’ll likely have to significantly improve defensively to avoid their first 0-3 start since dropping their first five in 2001. Washington has allowed an NFL-worst 511.5 yards per game and the second-most points (71) after losing 38-20 at Green Bay last Sunday. Aaron Rodgers picked apart its secondary for a franchise record-tying 480 yards and four touchdowns while James Starks ran for 132, marking the first time in league history a team had a 450-yard passer and 125-yard rusher in the same game. That doesn’t bode well for the Redskins heading into a matchup with a Detroit offense that ranks among the NFL’s top eight in yards (395.5 per game) and points (27.5). “It is as close to a must-win situation as possible,” Washington linebacker London Fletcher said. “We need to get that winning feeling back and get some confidence.” Fletcher and the Redskins, however, might not have to worry about the key weapon in the Lions’ backfield. Bush, who had 191 total yards in a Week 1 win over Minnesota, had two rushing attempts and a fumble in the second half of last Sunday’s 25-21 loss at Arizona after taking a helmet to his left knee midway through the second quarter. Without Bush playing much of the second half, the Lions offense went scoreless. If Detroit (1-1) doesn’t have him in the lineup, it will likely start Joique Bell against the Redskins.

Ryan Kerrigan Scouting Report

Ryan Kerrigan passes concussion tests [updated]

Pass Rusher: Ryan Kerrigan looks like an excellent pass rusher. Sack Artist: Ryan Kerrigan really emerged as a sack artist at Purdue. Production: I love the way Ryan Kerrigan produced big plays during the regular season, but I have not seen him do much during the bowl season or the Senior Bowl. Kerrigan made all the big plays on the defensive line without a supporting cast. DaQuan Bowers had Jarvis Jenkins at defensive tackle. Two years ago Robert Quinn had Marvin Austin and a pro bowl NFL potential defense built around him at North Carolina, and Adrian Clayborn played with Christian Ballard and Karl Klug on his defensive line. Kerrigan has been making plays all by himself just like Texas A/Ms Von Miller. Cons Physical Ability: Im not sold on Kerrigans physical ability. Kerrigan is an all pro pass rusher, but he has not proven to me that he can run stuff or cover effectively. Kerrigan has excellent athletic swim moves and finesse moves to get by offensive lineman with his footwork, but he needs to improve his rip moves and power moves when trying to get by offensive lineman.

He said hed been told by doctors that he didnt suffer a concussion. They dont believe it was, Kerrigan said in a conference call with reporters. I wasnt very symptomatic and I passed all my tests. Kerrigan left Monday nights game in the late stages after suffering a blow to the head.

Redskins player to watch against Lions: Ryan Kerrigan

The Giants managed only 102 yards of offense in the second half and never scored. To come out, to finally have a lead against this football team they’re a different team playing from behind, said linebacker London Fletcher, who had experienced six straight losses to the Giants. It felt good to play with a lead. Defensive players know just how delicately momentum weighed in the balance. If Manning had completed the pass, only cornerback DeAngelo Hall would have been between Nicks and the end zone. He has great awareness for a big guy, linebacker Brian Orakpo said of Kerrigan. He made a great play, got to score a touchdown, and thats all she wrote. For Kerrigan, the play offered quick validation for his spot in the defense and in the NFL. The Redskins selected Ryan Kerrigan Jersey Youth the 6-foot-4, 263-pounder with the 16th overall pick in the draft. At Purdue, Kerrigan played defensive end, but the Redskins immediately moved him to linebacker. An accelerated learning curve was forced on him because there were no offseason workouts and he missed nine days of training-camp practices with a bone bruise. I definitely feel like I belong, Kerrigan said Sunday evening.

Ryan Kerrigan doesn’t have concussion

— The Washington Redskins received at least one piece of good news Tuesday: linebacker Ryan Kerrigan did not suffer a concussion. Kerrigan left the game late in Mondays 33-27 loss to Philadelphia after taking what he considered a harder hit to the head than usual. Kerrigan was taken to the locker room at that time and evaluated by doctors. He said he took an ImPACT test this morning and passed that as well. Im feeling good and ready to roll this week, Kerrigan said. Thats good for Washington, which faces Green Bay and will need to generate pressure on quarterback Aaron Rodgers . If they had to lose Kerrigan, it would cost the Redskins one of their top pass rushers and a versatile one at that. The Redskins backup outside linebackers are rookie Brandon Jenkins and veteran Darryl Tapp .

It was awesome to see the young star pitcher walk through the streets of New York the city he actually plays in to ask fans what they thought about Matt Harvey. Its always great to see the fans reaction to the questions and, on occasion, there is a person who recognizes the athlete. However, most of the time, the players go unrecognized and thats when the most humorous moments happen. Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan of the Washington Redskins went undercover recently at a sporting goods store to attempt to sell his own jersey and talk to some fans about the Redskins. Check out the awesome video here: When people were telling him that he looked to big to be working as an employee at a sporting good store instead of playing it, it was somewhat obvious that he was figured out. He kept a straight face the entire time and the third-year player and Pro Bowl linebacker was relatively successful as a salesman. It seems like he has a pretty good sense of humor especially when he approached a guy who wanted to buy a Robert Griffin III jersey and he tried to sway him into buy a cool Kerrigan one. This has to be one of the best athlete undercover videos out there. If you dont know what Kerrigan looks like by now, you will after the video. Connor Muldowney is a columnist forRantSports.com.

Whatever the reason for Kerrigan’s late-game declines, the offensive line has to be ready for Kerrigan’s early-game onslaught. While Kerrigan entered the league with a draft profile highlighting his prowess against the run, the Redskins defense has been gouged on the ground in each of the past two games. Last week’s defensive failure against the Green Bay Packers was especially surprising. Getting beat by Aaron Rodgers is one thing, but allowing backup running back James Starks to end the Packers’ 100-yard rushing drought is quite another. Hopefully the Lions can continue that trend this week.

[ + ] Impact: Fletcher will also take the active lead for consecutive games played with a whopping total of 241. The linebacker made the league as an undrafted free agent in 1998 and has tallied 1921 tackles (1316 solo) over his career. After 139 stops (78 solo) last season, Fletcher underwent ankle and elbow surgeries this offseason. Nonetheless, the 16-year pro is still a strong IDP option and a symbol of longevity and perseverance.

“They played a lot of one-high (safety),” Rodgers said. “They gave us some inside leverage routes … we had a lot of yards after catch. It was 480 yards, but how much of that was YAC? Everybody got involved, everybody contributed.” 2. This is what the Packers have been pointing to since the offseason with a productive running game. Coach Mike McCarthy doesn’t care about balance, but the 132 rushing yards provided by James Starks takes some of the pressure off of Rodgers and a developing offensive line. “That’s very big.

“That’s the noisiest hands down,” said Morgan. “When I was in San Francisco, the quarterback would be right next to me in the huddle and I could barely hear him. Even screaming.” Guard Kory Lichtensteiger, a five-year veteran, played in Green Bay for the first time. “There were times it was very loud,” he said. “It was hard to communicate. But I think they can all get loud if there’s that many people in there. Going on the road is always tough. “I heard they were smart fans, and I think that’s true.

Redskins: WR Morgan’s mother OK after shootings

Now its looking like this will be the fourth year in a row that it wont take more than 10 victories to win it. Remember when the Redskins were 12-4 in 1986 and finished two games behind the Giants? Or when the Giants excellent season of 11 victories in 1993 only got them a wild-card spot? I would say the NFC East, if you rank them with wins and losses, they will probably be the fourth division in the NFC this season, former Cowboys vice president Gil Brandt said Monday. The West will have the most, then the South and then the North third. RELATED: GIANT STRUGGLES NOT MAKING ELI SCRAMBLE How far has the NFC East fallen? Packers-Redskins: What we learned

About 24 members of American Indian tribes stood in the rain outside Wisconsin’s Lambeau Field before Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Redskins, demanding a change of the visitor’s nickname. U.S. Congress members have written National Football League (NFL) Commissioner Roger Goodell urging a name change while prominent columnists and media outlets have also taken a stand against using the nickname. Snyder has said he has no intentions of changing the name of a team which has played as the Washington Redskins since 1937. “We’ll never change the name. It’s that simple,” Snyder recently told USA Today. “Never. You can use all caps.” Rising voices against the nickname have caught the ear of NFL chief Goodell, who grew up in Washington cheering the Redskins. “I know the team name is part of their history and tradition.

Rating the Packers vs. Redskins

I doubt I’ve ever seen that before. They are getting beaten on patterns, then dragged after the catch or else miss entirely and another DB has to make the tackle. London Fletcher may have had the lowest tackle total of his life — two. That despite the fact that the Packers rushed for 139 yards. According to the Packers research, Green Bay was the first NFL tem EVER to have a 450-yard passer and a 125 yard rusher in the same game. Meriweather can’t reverse that but maybe he could help the Skins pass defense get back to merely Bad, where it was last year, rather than Cover Your Eyes. Not good news that the team that blitzed the Skins last week (Philly) was beaten at home on Sunday or that the team which beat the Packers in Week One — S.F. — got beaten 29-3 in Seattle.

Redskins split on noise level at Lambeau

At the same time, EDS gave up a sack to Kerrigan on an inside twist and had three “bad” runs, all when he failed to execute a reach block against NT Barry Cofield. QUARTERBACKS (5) Aaron Rodgers confronted coordinator Jim Haslett’s defense at the line, making a series of checks that kept the Redskins on their heels. Haslett rushed five or more on 34.9% of dropbacks, but showing respect for Rodgers’ release and command, he sent more than five just once. Rodgers whipped the ball with accuracy all over the place, following his progression to the open man. On slants and skinny posts, he never hangs his receivers out to dry. The ball is thrown to the proper window. On the missed stunts inside, Rodgers sprinted right and flipped it to Finley against Hall for a 3-yard TD.

Washington Redskins Avert Another Defensive Disaster

Ryan Kerrigan Has The Key To Victory For Redskins Vs. Giants

rg31 Ryan Kerrigan Has The Key To Victory For Redskins Vs. Giants

Kerrigan has also returned two interceptions for touchdowns in his short career, which solidifies his knack for big plays on defense. Kerrigan left the fourth quarter of the Eagles game due to concussion like symptoms. However, according to columnist Mike Jones of http://www.washingtonpost.com , Kerrigan has passed all of his required concussion tests. Furthermore, Kerriganwas told by doctorsthat he hadnt actually sustained a concussion. He resumed participation in team practice on Wednesday, and barring any setbacks, should be set to make his 34th consecutive start for Washington against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2. This is excellent news for the Redskins defense, who is struggling to find some continuity. Strong safety Brandon Meriweather is expected to play against the Packers after recovering from various knee injuries. However, he cant be expected to make a solid impact, considering hes only played in one game since being acquired by the Redskins before the 2012 season. As unheralded rookies, free safety Bacarri Rambo and cornerback David Amerson arent expected to make a solid impact on defense either.

REDSKINS 2013: Ryan Kerrigan a mainstay after two NFL seasons

He knows skill is only part of the equation. Good fortune has something to do with it, too. You also have to stay motivated, Kerrigan said. You see some guys get a big contract, and maybe lose a little motivation once they get some money. You have to keep doing what got you to that point. I was motivated coming out of the draft.

Ryan Kerrigan’s increasing impact for the Redskins is no fluke

There is a yet-to-be released winter commercial on the way, but in the meantime, the folks at Thompson Creek are riding the Kerrigan wave. Theyve put together a remix of the two commercials, added some autotune and gifted it to the public. Its not as good as the original, but anytime we get more of the Redskins linebacker in a sun costume, its okay with me.

A 1.1% Total votes: 522 Both plays still had importance in the scheme of the game, as the Packers were forced to punt on each series that Bakhtiari allowed a sack. But overall, Green Bay had to be impressed with how he handled his 41 pass-blocking snaps in a game against an elite rusher on the road. For as calm as Bakhtiari looked in his first NFL start, Barclay was equally impressive in his seventh (including playoffs). Facing a heavy dose of the powerful Ahmad Brooks, Barclay allowed just three total pressures over 41 snaps and graded out as the Packers’ best run-blocker, per PFF (subscription required). While Green Bay naturally gave Barclay more help on the strong side of the line, he was rarely heard from against a very good 49ers front. A quiet day is usually a good day for Packers offensive tackles. Below is just one example from last Sunday of Barclay taking Brooks completely out of the play. Keep in mind, this shot was taken a full two seconds after the snap, and most receivers are already finishing their routes. The play is deep into its progression, but Brooks is still struggling to gain traction against Barclay. Given all day to throw, Rodgers Robert Griffin III Nike Jersey eventually finds Randall Cobb for a third-down conversion.

Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan gets closer to his fans

After he recognized the pattern, Kerrigan broke off his rush on Roethlisberger and moved into position in coverage. Right place, right time touchdown. I do recognize plays, Kerrigan said. Ive been fortunate enough to recognize situations and be in the right spot. So, yes, its a little bit of luck.

Kerrigan has had many shining moments this season, and has shown great potential. But the young superstar has failed to dominate a game from start-to-finish this season. Kerrigan will need to have a DeMarcus Ware like day, and finally look like a player who will be one of the leagues top pass rushers, if Washington is to seize first place this weekend. Kerrigan will be going to battle against ex-Redskin Sean Locklear. Locklear was a disaster with Washington last season, but has started at right tackle for New York this year and has not given up a sack. It will be up to Ryan Kerrigan to bring back the old Sean Locklear and to help display Locklears many weaknesses that he put on film while here in Washington. That may seem like a tall order given that Locklear has not yielded a sack, but Locklear has allowed Eli to be hurried 11 times. And that might be answer for Washington, Theyve been doing a great job.

Well, Griffin did get married this summer, which might have taken him off Danielles list. Players constantly want fans and the media to realize they are more than just bodies on a football field. Rarely are they willing to step outside their job descriptions and display why and how they are more than just bodies on a football field. Kerrigan did. And he did so knowing chances were high no one would recognize him. Maybe it was the glasses, said Kerrigan, who conducted the interviews wearing his eyeglasses. Its not a big deal to me. We have helmets on, so its not surprising people dont recognize me. It was a good time. It was definitely worthwhile. The idea to send Kerrigan to Carytowns cordial streets actually came from New York.

Ryan Kerrigan, Chip Kelly Meet Again

He said hed been told by doctors that he didnt suffer a concussion. They dont believe it was, Kerrigan said in a conference call with reporters. I wasnt very symptomatic and I passed all my tests. Kerrigan left Monday nights game in the late stages after suffering a blow to the head. Pretty much the last drive before they took the two kneel-downs, I took a little shot to the head, he said. It felt a little more jarring than the normal hit to the head. So I told the doctors and just wanted to make sure I was good before going back in. Since it was late in the game and there was a minute left, they wanted to play it precautionary and took me back to the locker room, did the tests, which I passed all of them. Then they did another ImPACT test this morning and I passed that as well.

Ryan Kerrigan passes concussion tests [updated]

Not only will he be entering FedExField for the first time in his career, it will mark the culmination of years of hard work to get to the NFL. Taking nothing away from his nearly pristine college resume, most coaches want to reach the pinnacle of the football world. While the day will be chock full of many firsts, if he and Ryan Kerrigan cross paths either during pregame warmups, postgame handshakes or even a play near the Eagles sideline during the game, visit it wont be the first time the two have partook in the same game . Long before Kerrigan shook Roger Goodells hand after the announcement that he was selected by the Redskins in the 2011 NFL Draft and made getting a haircut a monthly priority, he was a unanimous All-American defensive end at Purdue University. It was there where he got an inside look at Kellys unorthodox offensetwice. Purdue and Oregon arent rivals by any stretch of the imagination as one plays in the Big 10 (the conference with 12 teams) and the other in the Pac-12, but they did play two memorable games in back-to-back seasons in 2008 and 2009. The first game in 2008, Kerrigans Boilermakers blew a third quarter 17 point lead and in 2009 at Autzen Stadium where the Ducks rarely taste defeat, Oregon won by two thanks to a failed two-point conversion after a late touchdown. So what was the reasoning behind the two blown leads? Was it fatigue from Kellys fast paced offense? We blew fourth quarter leads both times.

Redskins To Face Protests At Lambeau During Packers Home Opener

Wisconsin tribe to protest Redskins name before Packers game

“The name from its origin was always intended to be positive and has always been used by the team in a highly respectful manner.” A Washington Redskins spokesman did not immediately return a message seeking comment. It’s not just the Oneida Nation in Green Bay pressing the Redskins to change their mascot. The Oneida tribe in upstate New York already has publicly called on the NFL team to get rid of the name. In a radio ad that began airing Monday before the Redskins season opener, a member of the New York Oneida tribe called on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to “stand up to bigotry” by denouncing “the racial slur” in the team’s name. Redskins owner Dan Snyder has said he’ll never change his team’s name. For more than two decades the Oneida tribe in Wisconsin has opposed the use of Indian characters and names in insensitive ways including sports teams, Oneida Nation spokeswoman Bobbi Webster said. When the Redskins last visited Lambeau, in October 2007, Oneida members held signs at the stadium saying they were not mascots, Webster said. The topic is timely given the standoff between the Mukwonago School District and the state Department of Public Instruction over the school’s use of the Indian logo and mascot.

Frenetic Eagles beat RG3, Redskins 33-27

1. Packers 48, Redskins 47 Oct. 17, 1983, at Lambeau Field This one is still in the record books as the highest-scoring game in Monday Night Football check it out history. In a game that featured 11 touchdowns, six field goals and 1,025 total yards of offense, the kickers provided the difference in the final minute of play. Green Bay’s Jan Stenerud made his 20-yarder, while Washington’s Mark Mosley missed his 39-yard attempt. It was a huge victory for the Packers, who improved to 4-3 in Bart Starr’s final season as head coach. It was the first taste of defeat for the Redskins, who dropped to 6-1. While Green Bay stumbled to an 8-8 record and missed the playoffs, costing Starr his job, Washington finished strong with an 8-1 mark to conclude the regular season at 14-2. The Redskins returned to the Super Bowl but lost to the Oakland Raiders.

And I thought that, really that that is the biggest point of emphasis of all of this, that Ive gotten to the point in my life and in my career where I sort of think about things maybe a little bit differently than I did a few years ago, and now I have the ability to do that so I decided to do it. King himself confirmed the decision a day after writing an extensive piece about Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, without once mentioning the teams nickname. Following the historical trend of issues deemed to be a matter of political correctness, its reasonable to assume a certain matter of inevitability that the name will one day have to be changed, despite team owner Dan Snyders grand proclamation which would suggest otherwise. However, King wouldnt chalk this particular hot-button issue up to such an absolute. I dont think its inevitable, but I think one day its likely, King said. But again, its not my call, and the last thing I want to be is the poster child to stand up here and to urge this thing to change. I mean its not my call.

Redskins’ LB Kerrigan deemed concussion-free

Whether the protests or poll results would have had any bearing on owner Dan Snyder’s feelings on the matter is up for debate. But this much is not: The Redskins name is staying put. Forever. “We will never change the name of the team,” Snyder said in May . “As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season.” Even in the face of a federal trademark lawsuit against the team, Snyder remained resolute in his stance. “We’ll never change the name,” he reiterated.

Packers, Redskins have played great games

will not begin Monday because of scheduling conflicts and availability of witnesses. A new trial date will be set Monday. There have been numerous delays. Rivera and four others from the Fort Myers area were charged with killing Taylor in 2007 during a botched robbery at the player’s home near Miami. One suspect pleaded guilty to murder and burglary charges. Rivera and the others pleaded not guilty and are being tried separately.

— Ten observations from the Redskins’ 33-27 loss to Philadelphia: 1. The Redskins did not look like a team intent on defending the NFC East title. Not on this night. Yes, they showed something by rallying to make the final score close and forcing Philadelphia to recover an onside kick to clinch the win. Sure, thats good. But a heck of a lot more was expected than for fans to go home saying, Well, at least they were resilient and didnt quit. This quality does matter, and its why they rallied from a 3-6 record in 2012 to make the postseason. And itll matter if they go into Green Bay and win on Sunday.

Peter King: Decision Not to Use ‘Redskins’ Not Motivated by Race

— The best news for the Washington Redskins the day after losing the regular-season opener to the Philadelphia Eagles was that Pro Bowl outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan , who was their best player during preseason and set up their only touchdown of the first 44:53 of the opener, doesn’t have a concussion. The Redskins feared Kerrigan suffered a concussion because he experienced symptoms of a head injury during Philadelphia’s penultimate series when he sustained a blow to the head that he said was “a little more jarring” than usual. He reported as much to Washington’s medical personnel. The Redskins pulled him from the game. However, Kerrigan, who was credited with eight tackles and a sack in addition to the forced fumble, passed all concussion tests on Tuesday and is expected to practice on Wednesday. “I’m feeling good, ready to roll,” he said. “(I’m) ready to roll this week.”

Eagles 33, Redskins 27: Ten observations

Even Kai Forbath, who made 17 of 18 field goals in his rookie year, was wide right in the third quarter. Shanahan’s team also committed 10 penalties for 75 yards. “Had a serious case of the can’t-get-rights,” Griffin said. “Penalties, hurting ourselves. I don’t throw picks, Alfred doesn’t fumble, and Kai doesn’t miss field goals.
